Explore the life and quilting practice of Elizabeth Talford Scott in this 25th-anniversary publication that shows how a new generation of students revisited the artist’s 1998 retrospective at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), organized by George Ciscle with the inaugural class of MICA’s legendary Exhibition Development Seminar (EDS).
Students joined Ciscle, EDS Instructor Deyane Moses, disability justice mentors, and partners at four universities and five museums throughout Baltimore City, to present nine vibrant exhibitions, featuring the artist’s work, in a community celebration from February-May 2024. Materials from the collaboration are gathered and shared here in the spirit of generating new and more equitable possibilities for the future of museums.
A portion of MICA’s proceeds will benefit the George Ciscle Curatorial Practice Scholarship and the Dr. Joyce J. Scott Scholarship. For more information, visit elizabethtalfordscott.com.
